AQUAMARINE ….Specialized Rome jewellery

Aquamarine is still the best known Brazilian gem. Its color ranges in the blue spectrum, reflecting all the infinite shades of the sea along the Atlantic coasts of Brazil.

Aquamarine

The colors of Aquamarine range shimmering from the sweet and graceful sky blue to the deep blue of the sea.

Women adore it for its fine and elegant colour, which has inspired the greatest jewelery designers over the centuries. She is the sister of Emerald, in fact they belong to the same species: the beryl.

The Gemma di Marzo, which has always symbolized fidelity and friendship, seems to have really captured the bright blue of the ocean to be able to send back to our minds the fabulous images of the sirens; it is no coincidence that her name derives from the Latin words: Aqua and Mare.

Santamaria Aquamarine and Espirito Santo: when the Gem becomes mystical

The various colors of Aquamarine have melodic names, but one stands out above all: Aquamarina Santa Maria, in whose Gem the deep blue takes on mystical outlines.
The name Santa Maria was given in honor of the Brazilian locality where these Gems were discovered in 1950: Saint Mary Itabira, in Brazil. Today, the Brazilian mines are almost exhausted and most of the Acquemarine Santamaria are found in Mozambique, Zambia and Tanzania. To distinguish them from the Brazilian ones they are called Santa Maria Africane.

The trade term Espirito Santo refers to an Aquamarine with a not very deep blue color, which comes from the Brazilian state of the same name. Another legendary name given to the color of this Gem is Martha Rocha.
